Recap -May Montreal Girl Geek Dinner with Stephanie Troeth

Back in May, Stephanie Troeth was our featured guest speaker and spoke to the group on the topic of "Better Living Through Computing Algorithms". As a web strategist, Stephanie is in the unique position of viewing the world through both interaction and technology lenses so this talk helped to shed light on how best to tackle our crushing workloads by introducing some basic algorithms in order to better prioritize our lives (both personal and professional).

Stephanie gave a great summary of the various techniques available in order to help ensure efficiency, all while keeping the sense of being overwhelmed by task-loads at a minimum. Discussions were lively and many food analogies were used (much to the delight of the geek dinner crowd!) True foodies knew what a coulis was so bonus food geek points were handed out and the biggest laughs came when Stephanie admitted that she played a hybrid of a game of Tetris when it came to stacking items on her dish rack in which she mused, "how do you pile everything on there without having to dry it, but allow enough air flow to let everything dry by itself?"

If you haven't had the opportunity to hear Stephanie speak (she's a SXSW Interactive veteran!) then you owe it to yourself to do so. She is passionate and professional in her tone and provides clarity to the most geekiest of concepts.
Oh and dinner you ask? We noshed on Tomato pizza.
Simon Law (our chief photographer) has posted some shots of these slices (and of the event) on flickr.

The May Girl Geek Dinner was hosted by Station C and the illustrious Patrick Tanguay and we wish to thank them immensely for the use of their location and for their time. If any of you are looking for a great space to co-work, I'd encourage you to get involved with Station C as this is really the hub for Montreal's tech and creative freelancers.

Not to sound like an advertisement, but Station C is doing a great job of providing a space for collaboration during the day and has hosted many social events during 'off hours'. The value that they are providing to this city is absolutely essential.
