Janina Szkut is a true girl geek.
She graduated last year with a B.Sc. in Computer Science, and is currently employed as a web programmer for McGill's Web Service Group. Janina is interested in web technology, science, math and enjoys gaming and being a globetrotter in her spare time as well as handiwork such as sewing and jelly-making. She is also the #1 ranked UAA assassin.
At this month's dinner she will show you how to build your very own gaming computer (a.k.a. gaming rig) with carefully selected components. There are a number of things to keep in mind when building a computer, such as sticking to a budget, choosing compatible parts, and of course, meeting the specifications for your needs. Building a game-oriented computer isn't as difficult as many people would think and it is certainly worth the time and investment.
Also, members of Foulab will be present to tell us all about their initiative to find, create and provide a community-oriented workspace for programmers, robot-builders, hardware hackers, artists, craftspeople and other like-minded folks.
Janina's talk coincides with many events going on this month for the Montreal International Games Summit (although we aren't affiliated with this group, we just want to show our love and admiration).
We'd also like to give digital props to Heather Kelly (a former MTL GGD speaker) for her work on the Gamma 3D event to be held on November 19th at the SAT. Go check this event out as it's always a great party and promises to feature full on stereoscopic fun!
